11. 30 New National and Industrial Standards for Cloud Computing to Be Formulated by 2027: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Standardization Administration of China (SAC) recently issued the Guide to the Construction of Comprehensive Standardization System for Cloud Computing (2025 Edition). 12. Realization of Converting CO₂ in Seawater into Bioplastics: A team led by Gao Xiang from the State Key Laboratory of Quantitative Synthetic Biology and the Institute of Synthetic Biology, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, jointly with a team led by Xia Chuan from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), proposed and verified an "artificial marine carbon cycle system" based on a coupled "electrocatalysis + biocatalysis" strategy for the first time. This system can capture CO₂ from natural seawater, convert it into intermediates that can directly enter biomanufacturing, and further upgrade them into various high-value chemicals and materials. Taking degradable plastic monomers as a demonstration case, this research is expected to provide a biomanufacturing platform for broader products such as fuels, pharmaceuticals, and food ingredients. The relevant results were recently published in the international academic journal Nature Catalysis.
13. Satellite Communications Open Up New Space for Space-Ground Integration: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued a satellite mobile communications service operation license to China Mobile. This means that all three basic telecommunications enterprises have obtained the qualification to operate satellite mobile communications services and can carry out businesses such as direct satellite connection via mobile phones, enriching application scenarios including emergency communications, maritime communications, and communications in remote areas. 2. Current Status of Elderly Care Institutions: By the end of 2024, the total number of various elderly care institutions and facilities across the country reached 406,000. Yebatan Hydropower Station: Milestone in China's Hydropower Development: As a key project under China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the Yebatan Hydropower Station on the upper Jinsha River began impoundment on October 13, 2025. With a total installed capacity of 2.24 gigawatts (GW) and annual power generation exceeding 10.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), it will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7.37 million metric tons annually . During construction, engineers set a world record by extracting a 38.1-meter concrete core sample, demonstrating advancements in dam foundation technology. The project also leverages the world’s highest-altitude Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) transmission system (Jinshang-Hubei ±800 kV) to enable cross-regional energy distribution, connecting clean energy from Tibet and Sichuan to Hubei Province .

Geermu Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Project: Global Leader in Solar Thermal Innovation: The Geermu CSP project in Qinghai Province, the world’s largest single-unit solar thermal power plant with a capacity of 350 megawatts (MW), marks a breakthrough in China’s solar thermal industry.
