This week's economic news

If 2025’s global economy were a tightrope walker, it’s been tiptoeing between headwinds and tailwinds—tariff tiffs simmer, geopolitical tensions linger, and AI investment manias spark both excitement and jitters. Yet here’s the plot twist: the world hasn’t stumbled. The IMF clocks global growth at 3.2%, with emerging markets leading the charge, and even amid uncertainties, innovation and cooperation are quietly rewriting the script.

Against this backdrop, China’s economic story this month reads like a well-choreographed dance—balancing stability with momentum, and local dynamism with global linkage. On the policy front, the Central Economic Work Conference has laid out the playbook for 2026, mixing proactive fiscal moves with AI-driven innovation. Meanwhile, industries are ditching old routines: manufacturing is going high-end and smart, digital tech is merging with real economies, and green energy projects are popping up from the BTH region to the Greater Bay Area.

But this isn’t just a “policy and industry” show. AI is no longer just a buzzword—it’s designing wedding dresses, diagnosing diseases, and even powering cross-border trade. Elderly care gets a tech upgrade, schools blend STEM with cultural heritage, and international ties are getting stronger: from wind power projects in Peru to joint labs with Central and Eastern European countries, cooperation is defying protectionist headwinds.

In this issue, we’ve sifted through the noise to bring you the stories that matter. Whether you’re curious about how China’s “Double High Plan” is shaping vocational education, how coastal wind power hubs are boosting green growth, or how cross-border digital trade is bridging continents—we’ve got you covered. Think of this as your cheat sheet to understanding 2025’s economic puzzle: where the risks lie, where the opportunities hide, and how policy, tech, and people are weaving the solution together.

So sit back, skip the jargon, and dive in. Because in a world of fragile growth, the most fascinating stories aren’t just about numbers—they’re about how we’re building resilience, one smart policy, one innovative project, and one global partnership at a time.
